Portrait of Kwoli Black against a blue sky

Kwoli Black is an alternative hip-hop artist from Hackney, East London.

He came up as a poet on the spoken word circuit, until his best friend and producer JSTRNGS heard him rap an Ab-Soul verse and pushed him into the booth. The poet never left. His records move between pensive, introspective writing and loud, boastful bars, often inside the same verse. He calls it hard food, not fast food.

In 2022 he linked with Kojey Radical and went out on the road with him, supporting the debut album tour and festival run. His first headline show sold out. The 2024 EP Can I Speak?, executive produced by JSTRNGS with BINA and Karl Benjamin, took on therapy, masculinity and family with a satirical edge, and picked up support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Clash, Notion and GUAP.

His debut album sorry for your loss landed in September 2025, featuring Kojey Radical and KeepVibesNear. In 2026 the colour comes back in. Joga Bonito is out now, and No Fans is next.
